Next up on our wish list is the one and only Winn! Our resident DEO tech genius has really grown into his own over the seasons, through a career change and a surge of confidence. He's definitely become part of the family and an essential part of the team. Who else could track down the bad guys as well as Winn does or learn an alien coding language in the same time it takes to watch an episode of Doctor Who? Check out what each of us had to say about the incomparable Winn Schott Jr.
Mia - My biggest wish for Winn is simply MORE WINN. After his massive reduction of screen time in season two, which saddened me deeply, I just want to see him come back to being an integral part of the group. We have a Winn-centred episode coming up in 3B (3x15), thankfully, which would be a great way to introduce a plot for Winn that ties in with the other characters. Also, I very much want to see Winn and Kara’s friendship to blossom again. It was one of my favourite things of season one.
Opal - Winn is another character that’s just floating in limbo at the moment. He really hasn’t had a character arc this season and has served as the writers’ expositional mouthpiece. Worse still, the writers have forgotten that Winn is Kara best friend. There was so much potential for Winn this season that I feel has been squandered. One of the things I hope for in 3B is more character development; I also want Winn to work with the Legion since Winn was the one Mon-El trusted upon his return almost immediately and he seems to be friendly with Imra as well, and I want them to put some thought back into his friendship with Kara.
Winnie - I miss goofy Winn so much. He was one of the characters that made me laugh consistently throughout the show. I think he is very well-situated (ie. in the DEO) now to have his long overdue heroic moment. We know that we are getting a Winn-centric episode soon, but I also wish that we see him come into the leadership role that was alluded to earlier this season. I would also love to see a Winn/Alex friendship form, I think it would have a lot of potential both as a storytelling tool but also for pure fun!
Michelle - Winn has been one of my favorite characters since I watched the pilot for the first time. I love Jeremy Jordan (and have since way before I watched Supergirl), and he’s perfect in this role. He has really come into himself and taken charge a bit more in a DEO setting than anywhere else. Like a lot of characters we’ve seen this season, he isn’t really being used to his full capabilities, but I do see that changing. My first Christmas wish for him this season is to really delve more into his past. As Jeremy said at SDCC, we kind of dropped off on that, and there’s definitely much more to it than we have seen already. He has a ton of arc left, I feel, so that’ll be great to see (which we are getting in 3x15 with the casting of his mom, so hopefully they don’t drop the ball on that one). Another wish is to see more of his interaction with Alex and Mon-El, like Winnie said. I absolutely adore her making fun of his easy intimidation towards her and I want to see where that could go (because they act it out so well). And the MonWinn scenes in season two were fabulous; I really need that MonWinn couch scene, a la Friends. Lastly, in addition to him getting more of an arc this season, I want his character as a whole to get more screen time. I love him and Kara together (because they are best friends, after all) and I think that he can grow more if we give him more screen time, obviously. It’s what we deserve, come on!
Cristina - Winn is another one of my original favorites and has so much potential...if only it would be used! Jeremy brings him to life so well and it makes me sad that Winn has been consistently pushed into the background for a while now. Which is why I can’t wait to see the upcoming Winn-centric episode we’re getting in 3B and I know will Jeremy will deliver spectacularly as always. Besides that, I really want to see more attention given to his relationships with the others, especially his friendship with Kara, since it has been almost unrecognizable so far this season. Like Michelle, I also loved his scenes with Mon-El in season two and I really want to get more of that as well (and a Friends couch scene would be hilarious). On that same note, one of my all-time favorite Winn moments was in season one when he totally geeked out over Barry being from another Earth, so I really want to see Winn geeking out over the Legion and all of their futuristic tech. His brief scene in 3x09 with J’onn and M’yrnn was also a big highlight for me and I love that dynamic and I want it to be explored more in 3B.
